రాము ఒక అమాయకపు పల్లెటూరి యువకుడు, అద్భుతమైన కవితా సృజన చేయగల ప్రతిభాశాలి. కానీ అతని నల్లని వర్ణం, నిరాడంబరమైన బాహ్య రూపం కారణంగా సమాజం, ప్రచురణకర్తలు అతని కవిత్వాన్ని గుర్తించరు. తన ఏకైక చెల్లెలు సీత వివాహం జరిపించాలన్న బాధ్యతతో పట్నం చేరిన రాముకు, తన బాల్య మిత్రుడు శ్రీరామ్ ఎదురవుతాడు. శ్రీరామ్ అత్యంత జిత్తులమారి, స్వార్థపరుడు. రాము నిస్సహాయతను ఆసరాగా చేసుకున్న శ్రీరామ్, రాము రాసిన కవితలను తన పేరుతో ప్రచురించి గొప్ప కవిగా కీర్తి, ధనం గడిస్తాడు. అంతేకాకుండా రాము చెల్లెలిని వివాహం చేసుకుంటాడు. తన చెల్లెలి కాపురం పచ్చగా ఉండాలన్న ఏకైక ఉద్దేశ్యంతో, రాము ఈ వంచనను మౌనంగా భరిస్తాడు. ఆ కవిత్వానికి ముగ్ధురాలైన రాధాదేవి అనే ఒక సుసంపన్నమైన సంస్కారం గల యువతి శ్రీరామ్ నే అసలైన కవిగా భావించి అభిమానిస్తుంది. అయితే కాలక్రమంలో అసలు కవి రాము అని, అతని అంతరంగపు అందం ముందు బాహ్య సౌందర్యం ఎంత అల్పమైనదో ఆమె గుర్తిస్తుంది. ఒక కళాకారుడి వేదనను, అన్నాచెల్లెళ్ల ఆత్మీయతను, మోసపూరితమైన సమాజ తీరును ఈ కథ అత్యంత హృద్యంగా ఆవిష్కరిస్తుంది.
Ramu is an innocent, dark-complexioned villager gifted with a brilliant poetic mind. However, due to his unappealing physical appearance, publishers reject his work. To fund his sister Seetha’s wedding, Ramu moves to the city where he meets his childhood friend Sriram, a cunning opportunist. Sriram exploits Ramu’s situation by publishing Ramu’s poetry under his own name, acquiring wealth and fame, and eventually marrying Seetha. For the sake of his sister’s happiness, Ramu silently endures this betrayal. Radha Devi, a cultured and wealthy woman, becomes an ardent admirer of the poetry, mistakenly believing Sriram to be the author. Over time, she uncovers the truth, realizing that Ramu’s beautiful soul far outshines his physical appearance. The film masterfully explores the agony of an uncredited artist, the depth of sibling affection, and the superficiality of society.
