ముప్పై ఏళ్ల కఠోర శ్రమ, లక్షకు పైగా పద్యాలు... పర్షియా రాజైన గజనీ సుల్తాన్ కోసం 'షా నామా' రాసిన ఫిరదౌసి కథ ఇది. పద్యానికి ఒక బంగారు నాణెం ఇస్తానన్న రాజు, తీరా కావ్యం పూర్తయ్యాక వెండి నాణేలతో అవమానిస్తాడు. ఆ కవి వేదనను, ఆత్మగౌరవాన్ని జాషువా గారు తన కలంతో గుండెలకు హత్తుకునేలా చిత్రించారు. ఇది కేవలం ఒక కవి జీవితం కాదు, సృజనకారుడి సార్వత్రిక ఆక్రందన.

Set against the backdrop of ancient Persia but breathed to life through a Telugu soul, the story follows the poet Firadausi. For thirty long years, he pours his lifeblood into composing the 'Shahnameh' for Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni, promised a gold coin for every verse. When the work is finished, the Sultan betrays him with silver instead of gold. It is a world of grand palaces, dusty manuscripts, and the quiet, devastating dignity of a man whose spirit cannot be bought.
